Applications for entry September 2009 need to be made early in the Autumn Term as selection days are planned to take place early in the Spring Term.

The round of applications for the course starting in September 2009 will be open from September 2008. Last year, the demand for this course exceeded expectations, therefore early application for September 2008 is therefore recommended. All applications must go through the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR).


Graduates wanting to become teachers should apply for the course which will commence in September 2009. Qualified Teacher Status and a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education will be achieved through this course which is delivered by Gateshead schools. The SCITT offers a flexible route into teaching based on individual training needs and builds on the vast expertise that exists with the consortium schools. The face to face teaching on this course will be provided by a team of specialists in the field of initial teacher training. Distance learning materials and school based tasks will ensure that all course members are prepared for school placements undertaken within the Gateshead consortium schools.

Trainees, from September 2008, are entitled to £4000 payable in nine monthly instalments of £444.44.
From September 2006 all providers of Initial Teacher Training are entitled to determine the level of tuition fees charged. Our tuition fees will be in line with other local providers. Full details will be provided on our selection days. It is advisable to apply to your local education authority through the student support office.
